The department for the dementia patients at the Hofmatt Retirement Center was neither technically nor in terms of comfort compliant to the contemporary standard of a closed nursing department. A concept for the modernization was developed together with the management and the nursing staff. In addition to technical and functional improvements, the rooms have been designed to accompany visually the inhabitants with their personal memories into fatal oblivion.
