Location: Vitznau, CH
Remarks: Project 2010, Realization 2010
Beginning the 20th-century Vitznau was a remote holiday hideaway. In these days the small barn was used as a cableway station for a hostel up the hill. After the hostel was turned down the shanty remained stowage. Located at the entrance of the HappyHouse estate (see no.35) it was rebuilt into a garage and a small guest apartment above. Outside, the old board facade was left unchanged. After the rotten roof was removed, a new wood element construction was placed into the old shell. Inside, all MDF elements – floor, walls, and roof – were left raw as a remembrance of traditional Swiss chalet architecture.
